The $790 million Liverpool Hospital redevelopment is proud to be supporting apprentices, women and Indigenous people through various construction pathway programs to land their first or a new job in construction.

Over the lifetime of the redevelopment, project builder Lendlease aims to have 115 placements or 25 per cent of the total workforce dedicated to apprenticeships for young adults, four per cent to women and 10 per cent of the work force dedicated to Aboriginal participation over the next five years.

Throughout construction of the $50 million multistorey car park, project builder ADCO Constructions dedicated more than 21,000 hours towards developing the skills of apprentices and trainees.

ADCO apprentice Charlotte said her time on the project provided her with new skills to progress her career in the construction industry.

“I really enjoy working in construction because it’s rewarding to finish a task and see your hard work pay off in the long term,” she said.

“While working on the Liverpool Hospital car park project, I’ve learnt how to use power tools safely, have upskilled in my work, health and safety knowledge and I can now read and understand site plans and specifications.

"As someone who lives in Western Sydney, working on a site that’s close to home means I save money on transport to and from work, and I can show my family and friends what I have been working on.”

Congratulations to all the young adults and apprentices who have been part of the project so far, and we look forward to seeing many more establish their careers and learn new skills on our construction sites into the future.
