60 seconds with My...

This month we met with My, our incredible Registered Nurse from the Infection Prevention Unit (IPU) who’s ensuring the new hospital building meets infection control standards!

What is your role on the redevelopment team?
The IPU works collaboratively with the redevelopment team to ensure all activities that involve construction, renovation, installation and maintenance within the facility are undertaken in a safe and appropriate manner to reduce the risk of infection to patients, visitors and all individuals who enter the hospital.

What is your favourite part about your job?
My favourite part about my role in IPU is our great team work. We all have our different strengths and as a team we encourage and nourish these strengths to flourish. We honestly all strive to work together to ensure that we keep our patients and staff safe and prevent the risk of infection transmission.

What are you looking forward to most in the redevelopment?
I am at awe every time I see the progression of how the facility is coming along in redevelopment. I am so excited to see the artwork and how the new building will transition with the existing building. The development team has done an amazing job! Tell us something people may not know about you Something that people may not know about me is that I am very theatrical and love to dance, make movie impersonations or sing (despite not having any singing abilities).

Tell us about your proudest moment working here?
My proudest moment in IPU would be during the height of the pandemic and how we all as a team really demonstrated our resilience and ability to adapt to the constant changes and pressures as COVID was rapidly evolving. We really relied on one another and as a team we pushed each other to keep on going.
