'Tuning In' to Mental Health Month
'TUning in' to mental health month
Roberts Co. team during Mental Health Month 2020
October was Mental Health Month and our project builders – Lendlease, ADCO and Roberts Co. – participated in advocating for and raising awareness of mental health in construction.
Roberts Co, our early works project builders, initiated ‘Project 5’, which is trialing a five-day working week for better work-life balance to improve the health and wellbeing of construction workers and their families. Project 5 is being trialed at Roberts Co’s Liverpool and Concord Hospital projects. The initiative was also recently featured as of the Top 10 Innovations for property and construction in the Australian Financial Review.
Multi-storey car park builders, ADCO Constructions, held a toolbox talk with workers on site to discuss mental health issues arising in construction and how to mitigate these.
Main works contractor, Lendlease, implemented ‘Wellness Wednesdays’ – encouraging staff to spend time focusing on and enjoying things that are most important to them.
Wednesday afternoons were set aside for personal ‘tune in’ time to focus on health and mental wellbeing activities, like spending time with the family outdoors and going for walks.
