With the brand new multi-storey car park nearing its ‘go live’ date, final checks are underway to ensure the structure meets operational needs. Project Officer Katherine Wong (pictured) plays a key role in the important commissioning process that ensures staff are well prepared and have the right tools and procedures in place to operate and manage the new car park. The commissioning phase is where everything really starts to come together. It’s exciting as it means that we are almost ready for handover and for the car park to become operational,” Ms Wong said. Katherine has been working closely with the hospital’s engineering, fire and security teams to ensure that the items being tested meet operational standards and are functioning correctly. “Our testing process includes everything from checking that the phones are working to testing systems such as fire, electrical and solar to ensure they are functioning as planned.” Staff familiarisation and training walks will shortly commence to ensure there is a smooth transition once the car park is operational. Staff and visitors will soon be accessing all hospital parking via Burnside Drive only, with the current P2 car park entrance off Forbes/Campbell Streets set to close once the new car park opens. Hospital access from the new car park will be via Entrance J, accessible 24 hours a day. Stay tuned for future updates, including the opening date of our new P2 car park!
