Meeting the healthcare needs of a young and diverse community
This significant capital investment has come at an important time, with a rapidly growing local population of over 204,000 which includes a significant proportion of younger persons, families and migrants:
- Over the period 2011 to 2016, the population of the Liverpool Local Government Area grew at 13.24%, much faster than the national average of 8.8%. There was an increase of just on 50,000 residents in the previous 15 years
- The population of the Liverpool Local Government Area is one of the most diverse in the state, with the number of persons speaking two or more languages more than double the national average
- New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and Environment population projections (2016), indicate that the population of the South Western Sydney Local Health District will increase to 1.285 million people in 2031, with the Liverpool Local Government Area growing by 41% at a growth rate twice that expected for the rest of New South Wales
To meet the health care needs of a highly diverse Liverpool and wider south western Sydney community, the redevelopment will provide a wide range of upgraded health services, allowing the better servicing of future health needs for this diverse community.
