car park reaches full height

Since the turning of the first sod in December 2020, the team working on our new multi-storey car park has worked through one of the most challenging periods in construction industry history.

Project builder ADCO Constructions hosted a small event on site to acknowledge the workforce that has helped keep the project on track. The celebration coincided with the car park reaching its highest point in construction and included special guest speaker, Nigel Smith, who represented Australia in volleyball at the 2000 Paralympics.

Nigel shared his personal story to help raise awareness of the importance of workplace safety, after a workplace accident at the age of 25 led to the amputation of his leg.

His key message to all workers was the importance of communication, speaking up about safety and looking out for each other on the job site – reminding everyone that it’s not only about getting the work done, but protecting yourself and others around you while you do it.

Work on the car park has progressed well, despite a range of hurdles, including construction pauses, COVID-19 restrictions and unfavourable weather conditions. The project is on track for becoming operational in mid-2022.
