During the past twelve months we’ve progressed from the first crane arriving on site to help build the new multi-storey car park, to the commencement of main works to build new hospital buildings, signifying that our much-anticipated redevelopment project is well underway.

NSW Minister for Health Brad Hazzard joined Member for Holsworthy Melanie Gibbons at Liverpool Hospital in early December to mark the start of construction on the hospital’s new $50 million multi-storey car park. ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract for the seven-storey car park, which will provide an additional 500 parking spaces for the campus.
A critical part of the hospital redevelopment is the input of staff and other stakeholders in the planning of new spaces, and a key milestone for each of our Project User Groups (PUGs) is the final sign-off of detailed designs that will inform the build. Our library team was the first of dozens of PUGs to reach this important stage in the planning process.
The hospital’s Diagnostic Radiology team recently welcomed the addition of two new mobile x-ray machines, greatly supporting the recent increase in presentations as a result of the pandemic. The machines were part of a larger order, set to be delivered on completion of the redevelopment project, but were brought forward in response to current need.
As part of planning for the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct, the project team has identified a range of opportunities to help lower the new facility’s environmental impact and further improve the health of our community.
Furniture, Fittings and Equipment (FF&E) are an important component of any hospital, and the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project is no exception. LHAP Project Officer, Alexis, is working with teams across the hospital to ensure the new spaces provide patient care in functional, clinical environments and are comfortable, safe and fit for purpose.
